Vic is an influencer. A pornographic video depicting her appears online. She posts: deepfake! For real?

SYNOPSIS
It’s influencer Vic’s birthday. A pornographic video depicting her appears online. A shit storm breaks out. She reacts quickly and posts live on Instagram: "Deepfake!". Her online community, though skeptical at first, starts to believe her when a cybersecurity startup supports her claim. Vic's follower numbers skyrocket, as we become doubtful of her credibility.

DIRECTOR'S NOTE
What can we believe when fake videos are indistinguishable from truthful ones? So-called "deepfakes" can be misused to shift public opinion, swing Presidential elections or silence individuals. In the hands of rogue states or criminals, the AI technology represents a disturbing new threat to democracy. VIC is an attempt to draw attention to this danger. The film is told via a laptop and a smartphone screen, devices on which deepfakes appear. These same devices also contain a person's secrets, desires and dreams, whilst acting as a window to the outside world. An interesting setting for a film about cybersecurity, I thought.
